* (Preconcert album sales: This has been an outrageously successful fundraiser!
Frequently synagogues will buy a bulk supply of Rick Recht albums (wholesale
price $8.50 per CD) and sell them to congregants for $13-15. In addition to
the substantial profits generated from CD sales, this is the best possible
advertisement
for the concert - the music is the most convincing way to bring people to Rick
Recht concerts. Usually youth groupers are extremely convincing CD Sales foot
soldiers – when they like the music, you know it's got to be good! There
is no minimum purchase - order as many times as you would like. )
* Discressionary funds: Rabbis, Cantors, program directors, and education
directors usually have disressionary funds. A small contribution from several
different
discressionary funds can make a huge difference!
* Angels: There are usually families in a synagogue that feel strongly about
the value of Jewish music, positive role modeling, live Jewish family entertainment,
and more within the walls of the synagogue. Some families will be very
willing to make significant contributions toward the possibility of a Jewish
family
concert.
* Sponsoring families: Sometimes, it's a great idea to have several families
(possibly dozens) make nominal contributions toward tickets for the Rick
Recht concert ie. $18, 36 ,48, $72 per ticket. The names of 'sponsoring'
families
can be listed in the concert program. It's sometimes fun to give different
names
to the various levels of contributors ie. Eitz (tree), Shorashim (roots),
Anafim (branches), Alim (leaves).
* Outside sources - Hillels, youth groups, other synagogues often attend
community concerts and can contribute significantly toward the concert
cost.
* Admission price: Admission price is always a great way to offset
concert expenses. There are all kinds of admission prices. Here are
some examples.
Sometimes kids
are free and adults are charged a heavier ticket price. Sometimes
kids are charged less ($3-5) and adults ($5-20). Sometimes there is a uniform
ticket
price ie.
($3-10 per person).
* Auction/ raffle: Auctions or raffles can also generate significant
revenues. A cheap guitar signed by Rick Recht Band, front row seats,
etc.
